Sharing Via Email
While nothing is as effective as a face to face conversation encouraging people of the goodness of the sacrament of reconciliation, people who are inspired by the website may wish to share it with others through email. Everyone with internet access has a few options for sharing.
- If you know someone who has shared he or she is nervous, you could choose one of the witness stories (or the whole page of stories) under Real Life Stories and send them the link, saying something like: “You know, this really touched me. I know reconciliation has been a grace in my life. I just wanted to share how good God is and how worth it confession is! Enjoy! I’d be interested what you think—email me?” Focus on invitation, why you appreciate confession, and invite a follow-up.
- If you know someone who has expressed reservations about the teaching of the Catholic Church on this, you may want to share the “What is Confession?” webpage, and add: “I just came across this and remembered when you mentioned that you had some issues with the Church’s teaching on confession. I thought this made a lot of sense, and was worth sharing. You may find it interesting. What do you think?” Again, focus on invitation to read, why this means something to you, and invite a continued conversation.
- If you have no idea whether certain friends or family have been receiving the sacrament, you can simply share the website as a great resource for sharing with others. “Look at this website! I love the positive feel of invitation about it. I think we should be sharing this out. What do you think?” And then insert the url: http://www.TheLightIsOnSouthernMN.org .
The key with sharing through email (or any other social media) is to remember that this is not about sharing information, but extending relationship. This website is meant to invite a conversation. Dare to share and let’s see how God works in people’s hearts this Lent.
