Discerning the Vision
These are two essential elements of moving to a mission focused parish. The Lord has a plan and a destination for each parish that exists, how it uniquely fulfills the Great Commission. But it is hard to move forward without spending time discerning the vision the Lord has for your parish. What does a parish full of Missionary Disciples look like? Spend some time with that question. Pray with it, describe it, more.
The following handout is available for parishes and clusters to use in the Diocese of Winona-Rochester. It involves three or four meetings where invested members of the parish/cluster community gather, pray, and discuss. The end result is a vision statement or paragraph (some call it a vision script).
Susan Windley-Daoust (swindley@dowr.org) is available to lead your community through this process, or if you prefer, you can run it yourself.
